IR Processor

pick a space, drop a sample, download the convolved WAV. rendered offline in your browser via OfflineAudioContext — your audio never uploads; there is no server.

step 1

Choose a space

each impulse response is a real measured space or piece of gear — the springs are modelled. or load your own.

step 2

Drop your audio

drag a file here

WAV, AIFF, FLAC or MP3 · decoded in-memory on your machine — never uploaded, because there is no server to upload to.

16-bit PCM WAV with TPDF dither — written by your browser, saved by you.

Notes

what is an impulse response?

a recording of how a real space or piece of gear answers a short test sound, usually a clap or a sine sweep. convolving your audio with that response places your sound in that space, so the reverb comes from a measured room instead of an algorithm. every IR in the library lists its license, source and changes in the attribution ledger above. the springs are modelled, and the ledger says so.

how is the render done?

with an OfflineAudioContext: your browser convolves the whole file faster than real time, so there is no playback wait, and writes a 16-bit PCM WAV with TPDF dither. closing the page cancels the render; nothing persists anywhere.

is my audio uploaded?

no. WAV, AIFF, FLAC or MP3 goes in, gets decoded in-memory on your machine, and the result is written by your browser. there is no server to upload to.

can I load my own impulse responses?

yes. an IR you captured yourself, say a cab or a stairwell, loads as the space and convolves exactly like the built-ins.

can I publish what I make with the built-in spaces?

yes. the CC0 spaces need nothing at all; the CC BY ones ask for the verbatim credit shown in the ledger when you publish. your own audio stays yours either way.
